To find out why Purple Haze should be next on your hit list, keep reading…

What is Purple Haze?

Purple Haze is a wonderful purple hue made by crossing the mysterious Purple Thai and Haze strains. The exact background of this bud is up for debate, with the majority of enthusiasts claiming it is a phenotype of staple strain Haze, and others saying its lineage comes from a cross between Haze and another unknown purple-flowering indica.

What we do know about this bud is that it is hard to get your hands on, but when you do it is well worth the effort! With THC levels up to a pretty gnarly 26%, with averages between 14–19%, it isn’t one for the novice smoker – let’s put it that way!

The namesake of this strain is another thing up for discussion, with some claiming it’s named after its purple appearance. However, the most common belief is that it is named after the popular Jimi Hendrix song that hit it big in the 1960s, shooting the strain’s popularity to new heights.

This sweet and earthy bud is undoubtedly a force to be reckoned with, and we put it up there as one of the best daytime strains on the market!

Purple Haze Flavor, Aroma, Appearance

As you might have guessed, Purple Haze comes with a pop of color that is easily distinguishable, and so it makes a great beauty to grow from home. With long, thick nugs in a light green hue and deep purple undertones, it is indeed a sight to behold.

Purple hairs coat the nugs and intertwine with a layer of white trichomes that make for a sickly sweet and sticky resin. Overall, this bud takes on a typical sativa structure with loose leaves that grow in spirals and spread outward. When it comes to the taste and aroma of Purple Haze, the experience is overwhelmingly sweet, with a berry undertone in both. Many users describe an earthy note which is predominantly overridden by spicy berries, and the flavor isn’t far from this either!

Upon inhaling you are met with a complex combination of tangy berries, which quickly turns into a hashy taste on the exhale. All in all it is a pretty moreish bud, especially if you are partial to a sweeter experience.

Purple Haze Grow Info

If you are looking to grow Purple Haze for yourself, the best way to go about it may be to take a cutting from an existing plant, as seeds for this bud are hard to come by.

As one may expect, Purple Haze grows tall like any good sativa should, so it is likely going to require quite a bit of maintenance and upkeep. Those of you who are brand new to cultivating cannabis may want to wait a while before taking this project on.

Purple Haze flowers within 9-10 weeks when grown indoors, and takes between 8-9 weeks when outdoors. Enthusiastic growers will benefit from the vibrant hues of lavender that the buds develop as the growing processes go on!

Medical Benefits of Purple Haze

When it comes to fast-acting results, Purple Haze has got it down to a T. Within minutes of inhaling you will be struck with the classic body buzz that warms the body slowly, starting from the head and working its way down. As your body relaxes, you will feel a sense of cerebral energy, feeling mentally stimulated and raring to go.

This is an ideal strain for those who are looking for a fast pick-me-up, and therefore it works great for those suffering from depression, fatigue or mild anxiety. The physical high is excellent for easing pain and muscle tension, and it can be an effective accompaniment to exercise.

Sufferers of headaches, migraines or cramps can benefit from the fast-acting physical relief, and you will find that the effects last for hours!

Super stimulating and thought-provoking, this makes a tremendous chatty strain and is great to use both alone and with friends! Some users also report that it is a great bedroom strain, as when used with the right people it can become an effective aphrodisiac.

Possible Side Effects of Purple Haze

Amongst the usual dry mouth and eyes that often accompany cannabis strains, some users have reported Purple Haze to cause paranoia and panic. For those of you who are prone to panic attacks or have high anxiety, we wouldn’t recommend using this bud.

If you do happen to experience any adverse panic, discontinue use and ensure you are in a comfortable and secure environment where you can unwind and relax quickly.

Is Purple Haze Next on Your List?

There is no denying that picking the next new strain to try is a difficult choice – there are hundreds of buds out there, and it can be hard to narrow it down! One of the things we love so much about Purple Haze is that the effects last all day in many cases, so it is a great way to spend a Sunday at home or with pals.

Between the delicious taste and the invigorating effects, we can’t get enough of this sativa, but we would love to hear what you think down in the comments! Is Purple Haze next on your hit list?

    Was different

I tried purple haze at some place in Thailand last month, and it was nice. They presented the strain, in Thai sticks, which were coated a bit purplish and pinkish on the outside with some artificial color, and inside it was the pure strain. It looked great and also was nice to smoke.
