The origins of Kryptonite might be up for interpretation, but this marijuana strain’s intense potency, brilliant mind and body effects and outstanding medicinal benefits are a one-hundred percent definite. Rumor has it, Kryptonite is linked to the G-13 lineage, and was smuggled from the only federal government pot farm during the 1960s. These stories, of course, have not been confirmed, but regardless it is an intriguing idea to ponder.

This cannabis strain is gaining global popularity no doubt, for some marijuana consumers it has even become a household name, but still its primary location for popularity is throughout the South-West and West Coast of America. In other regions it can be a bit more difficult to obtain or even find, but hopefully, as more cannaisseurs and medical marijuana patients fall in love with Kryptonite, its accessibility will expand. Kryptonite is often confused with some other marijuana strains, including Kryptonite OG and another strain known as Kryptonite that is sativa dominant and produced by Pyramid Seeds. Neither of these two alternative options are the same as the original Kryptonite marijuana strain we will be discussing in this cannabis review, just for clarification.

Keep reading to discover everything there is to know about the powerful marijuana strain Kryptonite…

What Is the Kryptonite Marijuana Strain?

Classified as an indica dominant strain, Kryptonite contains 85% indica and 15% sativa genetics. Its origins are not fully understood, and although various rumors, myths and stories have floated around about this impactful cannabis type, it seems that the general consensus is that Kryptonite is a genetic breeding of the two hybrids Mendocino Purps and Killer Queen, accredited to the famous Bay Area Oaksterdam University.

Superman certainly had to fight to stay away from his kryptonite, but this marijuana strain by the same name is something you can enjoy without needing massive limitations. It is heavily medicinally beneficial, so it is quite the opposite of being something that is harmful to your health, or a component that you should stay away from, like the infamous kryptonite from the comic books is known to be.

The THC content of this cannabis strain is equally immense as its healing abilities, offering an amount of around 17-28% on average. Due to its potency, Kryptonite is what you could call a one-hit-quitter, with just a little bit going a very long way.

Kryptonite Aroma, Flavor and Appearance

Overall, Kryptonite’s initial odor is not too overwhelming. It is certainly pungent and skunky, but not too stinky like some strains can be. Its aroma is quite earthy and sometimes a little sweet, making it delectable for the senses, but varies heavily from its actual flavor when it hits the tongue. Regarding taste, Kryptonite takes on another life, appearing to engulf the taste buds with hints of fruit and berry sweetness, blended with a touch of pine and earth. The difference between aroma and flavor is one aspect that makes this strain so unique for consumption, especially for those who are desiring two separate experiences in one.

Appearance wise, Kryptonite definitely embodies its name, looking deep, bold green in color, with a multitude of varying shades of green present throughout the bud, much like the comic book element kryptonite is portrayed. In between the heavily frost coated, high-inducing sugar leaves are brassy, light orange pistils that curl and twist throughout the dense buds.

The Kryptonite Marijuana Strain Grow Info:

Kryptonite can successfully be cultivated with three different methods; outdoors, indoors and in a greenhouse. All methods have proved to be suitable in the past, but the proper conditions must be met for the plant to thrive. Even though Kryptonite is not such a difficult strain to grow, it is probably better suited for somewhat experienced cultivators to attempt, unless you are truly desiring a challenge. Indoors and greenhouse grows should utilize appropriate, strong lighting, as well as higher ceilings, in order to encourage this dense and thick plant to expand upwards and reach taller. Indoor plants will usually reach flowering time around the 60 day mark, and the humidity levels plus ventilation should be kept balanced, (not too humid, not too dry).

Outdoor cultivation is also possible, but only within specific conditions. Kryptonite thrives in temperate or warmer climates, but can also withstand cooler, Fall-like temperatures. The flowering period for outdoor grown crops is around 8-10 weeks, and this crop typically grows taller outside than inside. Indoor yields offer a medium sized harvest, providing about 11 ounces per square meter of sellable bud on average, while outdoor yields range a bit higher at around 22 ounces per plant. The size of this crop has a wide-range, growing anywhere from 2.5 feet, and upwards to 6 feet tall. It is important with Kryptonite to plan a space and prepare accordingly for the success of this crops development.

The Kryptonite Marijuana Strain Effects

Leaving the body with an overwhelmingly pure sense of euphoria, unlike many indica strains, Kryptonite does not act as a sedative and induce sleep upon the consumer immediately. Yes, this marijuana is rather relaxing, but more so it promotes couch-lock if anything. The body can become lethargic and heavy, with an all over buzz that feels incredible and is simultaneously stimulating. The high from Kryptonite cannabis can also be very cerebral, encouraging a mellow mood and a floating, cloud-like sensation, followed by a burst in creative energy. Those who take part in yoga or meditation could benefit from this strain before or after a practice. Because of its incredibly relaxing effects, Kryptonite is a strain best saved for the later hours of the day; either after work or in the evening.

Medical Benefits of The Powerful Marijuana Strain Kryptonite

Medically speaking, Kryptonite offers quite a few benefits for those looking for an alternative to pharmaceutical or conventional treatments. Although, not suitable for all medical conditions, those with pain related or mood disorder related conditions, might find success with this cannabis strain. Physically, those with chronic pain, muscle spasms, joint pain, arthritis, cramping and more, will feel their discomforts melt away just by taking a few hits of this strain. The greater the pain, the greater the dose should be. It is sometimes difficult to receive large doses of THC utilizing smoking methods, so alternative methods of consumption might be optimal for someone looking for physical relief with the assistance of medical marijuana. Edibles, concentrates, tinctures, candies, gummies, bubble hash and extracts, are all alternative methods of cannabis consumption that pack in a grand dose, with less of the actual process of consumption required.

Furthermore, many of these methods are smoke-free, ideal for those who wish to not cause any damage to their lungs. Patients with mood disorders such as depression or bipolar, can also widely benefit from Kryptonite, in addition to those dealing with stress, chronic stress, anxiety and even PTSD. A smaller, well-managed dose tends to be best for those trying cannabis for a mental condition, because THC induced anxiety and paranoia is a very real occurrence. It is best to avoid this altogether by knowing your limits with marijuana, and sticking to those boundaries.

Possible Negative Side Effects of Kryptonite

Lucky for those who love Kryptonite already or are really dying to try it, there are few negative side effects attached with this strain. It is unlikely that you will become dizzy, paranoid, nauseous or anxious from this cannabis, unless you are the type of individual who is sensitive to high potency THC marijuana types, then any strong strain could produce a reaction. The primary reported adverse effects from Kryptonite are dry/red eyes and dry mouth (cotton mouth), which both can be easily managed with a little extra preparation and planning. Cotton mouth can be minimized by drinking plenty of hydrating fluids before, during and after your consumption of marijuana, as well as keeping a bottle of water close by in case any sudden couch-lock overwhelms you and keeps you from wanting to go to the kitchen. By purchasing a bottle of moisturizing eyedrops from your local pharmacy, you can keep the discomforts that come along with itchy, dry or red eyes at bay. Overall, the pros far outweigh the cons of consuming Kryptonite, making it a suitable option in more ways than one.

Final Thoughts of the Marijuana Strain Kryptonite

If you are an individual searching for an all-natural alternative to conventional medical treatments for chronic stress, chronic pain, joint pain, depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar, muscle spasms, cramping, migraines, headaches and more, than Kryptonite might be a suitable medical marijuana option to try for relief from discomforts. We hope you found this article to not only be entertaining, but also educational and informative. It is important to remember that the consumption of cannabis is the sole responsibility of the user, and discretion should always be taken.

    Nice big buds

I grew 3 Kryptonite plants this season. I pulled one because it was a male and harvested the leaves. The two females both reached only a max of 5′ tall, but each produced around 20 oz of bud each. Some of the colas were between 12″-16″ in length and the smell……absolutely heavenly.
