The flavor of the Gelato marijuana strain is sweeter than the tasty dessert…

Named for the way in which it impacts the taste buds and senses with pure, dessert-like pleasure and sweetness, the Gelato marijuana strain has begun to overwhelm the world of cannabis, and in a beautiful manner. Bred by the geniuses over at San Francisco based lab Cookie Fam Genetics, many phenotypes of Gelato were released over time by these masters, but phenotype number 33 is the one most often associated with the legend Larry. What Is the Gelato Strain?:

From Cookie Fam Genetics, when they decided to cross Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies with Sunset Sherbert, what they ended up with was somewhat unexpected. Through much trial and error, they finally produced a phenotype that they were happy with, which has become known as “Gelato” in this day and age. A well-balanced hybrid cannabis that leans slightly more indica, this gorgeous and delectable weed type includes 56% indica and 44% sativa genetics, yet seems to be overall energizing and uplifting, which is not always the case with strains that contain more of the sedative inducing side.

One of Gelato’s features that really sticks out, is its immense THC content, which is around 18% in the lowest recorded test results. Usually its THC content ranges somewhere between 20-26%, plenty of punch for those who desire herb that not only lasts a while, but requires very little flower to actually be consumed before the strong effects are experienced.

Gelato presents the cannabis community with an original origin and intriguing genetic history, all tied together by the fact that this cannabis type is as delectable as your post-dinner treat and promotes deep physical relaxation, all with the flavors of citrus and sweets.

Greatly following in the footsteps of its parents strains Sunset Sherbet and Thin Mint GSC, Gelato is in essence named after the dessert popular in Italy. It is a tantalizing hybrid cannabis strain with buds that tend to bloom in dark purple hues illuminated by fiery orange hairs that are gorgeous to glance upon.

Where to Buy Gelato in the USA?:

Although Gelato is not the easiest strain to come across, it is possible to buy this marijuana type in a weed shop. The easiest is to check out the local weed store near you if you live in one of the legal states out of 50. Even if Gelato is not a household name in pot shops, it can be discovered all over the USA, especially in medical dispensaries.

Gelato Aroma, Flavor and Appearance:

Gelato Macro Strain

With an especially prominent and pungent aroma, it is easy to recognize that there is cannabis in the vicinity when Gelato is near. For this reason, carrying these buds around is not the most discrete of experiences, which might be a dealbreaker for some, but if you don’t mind the sweet stench, trust us, it will be worth it. Aside from being pungent, this marijuana strain has a sweet and fragrant fruity smell, with hints of blueberry and orange.

Flavor-wise, the taste of Gelato (the strain, not the ice cream), is quite universally suited, meaning that various types of marijuana consumers can still enjoy and appreciate this dank bud. This cannabis starts out with impactful sweet and woody flavors, blended with hints of floral lavender. Gelato leaves a thick white smoke and after a hit has been taken, the taste transforms into a mix of berries and citrus, acting as a pleasant surprise for the tastebuds.

Appearance-wise, Gelato is beautiful, but in subtle ways. Its sugar leaves are purple and green, with hints of fiery red and orange that morph into the brassy pistils, those tiny curling leaves that twist and move amongst the frosty sugar leaves. Although Gelato has a high THC content, its sugar leaves are not immensely frosty, but do certainly present a bit of crystalline glimmer.

Gelato Grow Info:

Thanks to the indica influence, the Gelato marijuana strain only grows a short to medium height, meaning that its stature is especially suitable for those who wish to grow this crop indoors and simply don’t have immense amounts of upwards space. It is a beautiful strain to look at and watch during the growing process, for its buds are stunning, especially when fresh. Beginning the cultivation of this crop is probably the most difficult part of the process, because obtaining seeds is not the easiest task. The best way to start, is by knowing someone that has access to these plants, because then you can snag a clone off of them.

Gelato unfortunately isn’t the easiest strain to grow, but it can be successfully accomplished either indoors or outdoors by utilizing the proper techniques and carefully monitoring any progress. Indoors, a grow tent is best, because this strain requires a specific temperature and condition to flourish. Inside the tent, it is easier to monitor and adjust these levels. The environment must remain warm and humid for success. Outdoors, you must reside in a special climate in order to be successful with Gelato.

The best conditions for this crop is to begin with warm and humid temperatures, but just before the flowering period, if this cannabis can be properly exposed to a cooler temperature that is still humid, it can improve the quality and yield of the buds. Flowering period arrives around 8-9 weeks for this marijuana, and the specific yield is not known, but it is said to be at least above average, so you can expect your hard work to be paying off once the medicinal product is ready for picking.

It’s my experience that Gelato burns in a vaporizer much easier versus other strains. Even at the lowest setting (356 degrees), it starts combusting on long draws. You have to keep an eye on it and stir often.

  3. Raymond Roark
