When one considers the characteristics of marijuana and what it does to the human body, they often attribute it to giving off a stoney high that either produces severe couch-lock, the munchies, cotton mouth, or various psychoactive effects, but there is actually a whole other side of cannabis that has been developed specifically for patients who possess severe medical conditions, some which can be debilitating or even life-threatening.

CBD rich, low THC strain development was designed primarily with these people in mind; those who desire a treatment for any possible uncomfortable or painful symptoms or effects of their conditions that they might be experiencing. For those with extreme situations, such as stage 4 cancer patients, this group of cannabis strains offers comfort at the end of life, so that they do not have to live out the rest of their days in pain. Other conditions that CBD-rich marijuana strains assist, are difficult syndromes or diseases that will have to be dealt with throughout the entirety of one’s life.

This is where Charlotte’s Web comes in- a member of this medicinal, CBD rich cannabis strain group, this ganja (marijuana) is frequently processed into marijuana capsules that are administered orally to patients with severe medical conditions, but its origins start from an all-natural, minimally processed flowering marijuana plant, which is what will be primarily focused upon in this Charlotte’s Web Cannabis strain review.

What Is Charlotte’s Web?

If you are wondering where its unique name came from, Charlotte’s Web weed was named after one of the young patients that it was actually specifically designed to assist. Charlotte Figi, who suffers from Dravet syndrome, was experiencing several seizures daily, until this powerful medicine was produced by The Stanley Brothers out of Colorado. Charlotte used to experience around 300 seizures monthly, but after being administered capsules of this low THC strain, her seizures went down as low as 4 per month, meaning she could once again begin participating in normal, young-child experiences, such as playing with her friends.

Charlotte´s Web was one of the forerunners during the revolution to make medical cannabis legally accessible nationwide to patients with epilepsy, such as the young girl Charlotte. Although the world has far to go, some states in the US who are against the legalization of THC heavy weed, have allowed for CBD extracts to be purchasable for individuals with medical conditions, such as epilepsy.

Genetically, Charlotte’s Web is considered by some to actually be a branch of the hemp plant, but regardless of where it stems from, its CBD to THC ratio is incredibly unique, featuring around 17% CBD, and just 0.3% THC, hence the lack of presence of psychoactive effects, which is in part what makes this cannabis strain so suitable as an all natural medicine for children and adults.

Charlotte’s Web Aroma, Flavor and Appearance

The aroma of Charlotte’s Web is pleasant and light, with an earthy and piney scent, that isn’t too overwhelming, but still can be noticed and appreciated. The flavor of this cannabis strain is equally as nice, sending full-bodied sweet and woodsy base notes to the taste buds, topped off with hints of subtle lemon, citrus and sage.

The appearance of Charlotte’s Web marijuana is not anything too mind-blowingly unique; the bud structure is simple and classic- sagey green, with tightly packed leaves and the light presence of small orange pistils mixed throughout the leaves. There is zero frost or snow-like crystals on the leaves, which is why they can’t exactly properly be referred to as sugar-leaves, but the cause of this lack of crystals, is because this plant has such a low content of THC. Hence, there won’t be any visible signs of the blaze inducing chemical component.

Charlotte’s Web Grow Info

As of now, the actual Charlotte’s Web cannabis strain is not available for commercial cultivation, so only select individuals are provided the original cannabis seeds to grow. Rather, if you do want to grow this medicine, you must opt for a clone alternative, but little is known about the best growing conditions and climate in which this weed can thrive. If you do opt to attempt the cultivation of the clone version of Charlotte’s Web, growers say that it requires a certain level of experience in order to attempt successfully, but if you are just a beginner and are interested in a challenge, this just might be it.

Although there is not much information on the climate for this type of cannabis, it is known that it can be grown either indoors or outdoors, with a flowering period of around 8-9 weeks. When grown outdoors, Charlotte’s Web weed is ready for harvest around mid-October. The yield of this crop is quite average in amount, with successful outdoor yields ranging at about 16 ounces per plant, and indoor yields at about 12 to 16 ounces per meter squared.

Charlotte’s Web Effects

Charlotte’s Web would technically probably be classified as a sativa dominant hybrid, with a 60% sativa, 40% indica ratio, but because of its lack of psychoactive effects, the strain classification of this reefer doesn’t matter so much- it won’t actually make you feel like you are high, aside from mild relaxation and slightly uplifting feelings. Different users report different results, but some have claimed a general improvement in mood and demeanor, with oozing energy and waves of happiness, which is possibly related to its sativa genetics.

Most of all, the fact that the Charlotte’s Web marijuana strain does not alter your mental state, makes it ideal for going about day to day activities, minus the worries of becoming dysfunctional. Additionally, this is a medicine that has some profound healing abilities, so the positives of Charlotte’s Web really seem to outweigh the negatives.

Medical Benefits of the Cannabis Strain; Charlotte’s Web

The medical benefits of Charlotte’s Web are extensive, because it has proven to be so successful at assisting many patients with a wide-variety of conditions and ailments. To begin, Charlotte Figi successfully was able to manage her epilepsy with the assistance of Charlotte’s Web edible capsules, showing that it may be an ideal solution for children and adults who suffer from frequent seizures or epilepsy.

Additionally, this CBD heavy marijuana strain is brilliant at managing chronic pain and other forms of pain within the body, which can benefit cancer patients experiencing pains or headaches, as a result of their treatments. Furthermore, Charlotte’s Web weed can minimize muscle spasms and joint related pains, making it beneficial for patients with Parkinson’s Disease or even fibromyalgia. Mentally, the uplifting and happy times bringing nature of this supposed sativa, can assist those suffering from depression, anxiety and stress disorders. Lastly, anyone that has trouble managing their fatigue, might find that this marijuana strain can truly help them, especially if the fatigue is the result of another, more serious medical condition, such as cancer.

Possible Negative Side Effects of Charlotte’s Web

As with all medicines, there are some side effects now and then, but nothing too severe with the Charlotte’s Web strain. The most commonly reported adverse effect is dry mouth (cotton mouth), which is typically presented by itself, without the accompaniment of dry eyes. Some individuals have also experienced dry eyes, but this is less likely. Dry mouth and dry eyes are both equally avoidable and manageable, all with a little extra preparation.

To avoid cotton mouth, drink plenty of hydrating fluids before, during and after your consumption of reefer, being sure to keep a bottle of water on hand or nearby for easy access. By purchasing moisturizing eyedrops from your local drug store ahead of time, you can be sure to keep uncomfortable moments at bay.

Although quite unlikely, increased anxiety, paranoia, headaches and dizziness have also all been reported, but this is an interesting concept, because many researchers would suggest that these high levels of CBD would actually keep anxiety and any negative thoughts or pain at bay.

Final Thoughts About Charlotte’s Web

We hope you have enjoyed reading this Charlotte’s Web Cannabis strain review and that you not only found it to be entertaining, but also educational and informative. It is vital to remember that the consumption of cannabis is the sole responsibility of the consumer and discretion should always be taken.

Which product , if any , would best suited to deal with persistant night leg cramps ?

    1. Theresa

I am not sure about which CBD to recommend; however, I use magnesium oil spray when I get those painful muscle spasm that come on in the middle of the night. I get spasms on my shin, feet, toes, calf, and sometimes in two places. It is fast and effective. I read that the fastest absorption is spraying it on the bottom of your foot and rub it in. I hope this helps for your short term immediate solution.
