Back in the middle to late 20th century lived a famous/infamous man by the name of Howard Marks. Brilliant and well educated at Oxford University, no one expected the fate this man would have. Becoming known as one of the most sophisticated cannabis smugglers of all time, Howard Marks ended up serving 7 years in federal prison for his drug crimes, and afterwards released a book about his enthralling and outlandish life that he titled, “Mr. Nice”.

During the 1980s, the genius scientists and cannabis breeders over at Sensi Seeds developed a new marijuana strain, which they rightfully named as a tribute to Howard Marks, calling the crop type “Mr. Nice”. The marijuana strain was available for purchase limited edition, and they soon halted its distribution, later re-releasing it long term in 1999. Flash forward to 2004 and Mr. Nice ends up winning the High Life Cup for that year. Not only does this cannabis strain have a lengthy and intriguing back story, but it also has some equally as impressive effects.

Keep reading to discover everything there is to know about the relaxing marijuana strain Mr. Nice…

What Is Mr. Nice?:

Classified as an indica dominant marijuana strain, Mr. Nice, once called simply “G13xHP”, ranks in at an 80% indica and 20% sativa ratio, offering some overall uplifting yet tranquilizing sedative effects. It was developed by combining the genetics from two different marijuana types; the potent Government indica G-13 strain and Sensi Seed’s indica Hash Plant strain. These two put together blended into an unbeatable combination, one that has become a favorite of many cannaisseurs, medical marijuana patients and even first-time consumers. Although not the most potent of cannabis strains, Mr. Nice still racks in a 13-16% THC content, so it is suitable for those searching for a pleasant smoke.

Mr. Nice Aroma, Flavor and Appearance:

The initial aroma that seems to be acknowledged by those that get a whiff of Mr. Nice, is an overwhelming yet pleasant sweet sensation. Its scent is also pungent and can be recognized all the way across the room immediately after the baggie or jar of this smelly stuff is cracked open. Mr. Nice’s aroma additionally features elements of spice and skunk, giving it an intriguing dynamic. This cannabis strain’s flavor is somewhat similar to its scent, also representing a sweet and sugary dynamic, with extra added earthy, spicy, woody and piney undertones. It hits the throat with a smooth texture, velvet-like in nature and travels into the lungs with ease. Its smoke has a certain woodsy fruitiness to it.

Appearance wise, Mr. Nice is a relatively short growing crop and does not have a far-reaching stretch, which is typical of indica classified marijuana strains. Its buds are densely packed, with a high calyx to leaf ratio, which makes trimming a breeze. This indica marijuana strain’s buds are the classic herb color; light green, yellow green and darker green sugar leaves are joined tightly together, with hints of brassy orange curling pistils in between creating a juxtaposition against the forest-like shades. Unlike some cannabis strains, Mr. Nice buds don’t look particularly frosty, which could be due to their lower THC content. The pro to less frosty buds; when you’re getting the cannabis prepped for consumption, you won’t end up with frustratingly sticky fingers.

Mr. Nice Grow Info:

Mr. Nice is a strain best left to those with prior cannabis cultivation experience. This is because it can be a particularly temperamental crop and might require a deeper understanding of marijuana production. For those who are just getting started but are up for a challenge and don’t have any particular expectations, Mr. Nice might be worth a shot. The most difficult aspects of growing the Mr. Nice crop are the way it regularly needs to be trimmed and groomed for success, as well as the conditions it is being kept in needing to be ideal.

This marijuana strain, first and foremost, requires plenty of sunshine to flourish, as well as conditions that mimic a warm, sunny Mediterranean climate. If weather conditions permit, it can be grown outdoors, so be it that the crop is getting the attention it deserves. Growing Mr. Nice indoors is sometimes a bit simpler, because its conditions can very deeply be controlled and closely monitored. Although indoor grows cause the crop care to be of higher maintenance, you won’t be relying on ever-changing factors beyond your ability to maintain or control. In some places, it is difficult to predict what the weather will be like, even if overall there is sunshine and warmth.

Outdoor grows are ready for harvest around mid-October, and both indoors and outdoors cultivated crops require 9-11 weeks of flowering period. For those who put in the time and care for their crops, you can expect to be rewarded with a generous yield. Outside yields typically range at about 16 ounces per plant on average, while inside yields are a bit lower at 14 ounces per meter squared on average.

Mr. Nice Effects:

The way Mr. Nice makes its consumer feel can best be described as uplifted yet relaxed; giggy and happy yet calm. It is an extremely stress relieving marijuana strain and will help you to breathe easy once more if you are someone that tends to have difficulties with anxiety or worrying. After a while, the high from Mr. Nice melts into a sedative, sleep-inducing medicine, often creating drowsiness and couch-lock effects. For some, this marijuana strain can be euphoric and surreal, and for others it can induce hunger and generate a bad case of the munchies, so be sure to have a comfortable spot to lay ready and the fridge fully stocked!

Medical Benefits of Mr. Nice:

Mr. Nice is packed full of healing abilities and medically beneficial properties, making its name a rather fitting one considering its qualities. Due to the fact that this cannabis strain is so relaxing, it is a quintessential option for combatting chronic pain, migraines, chronic stress, mild stress, cramping, muscle spasms, lack of appetite, back pain, headaches and just about any other ache or pain that can occur in the body.

The marijuana strain itself is moderate to mild in potency, so for those attempting to combat their physical pains, it is likely that a larger dose will be in order. Edibles, concentrates, extracts, tinctures, candies and gummies are all alternative methods of marijuana consumption that offer greater potencies and longer lasting effects with less of the actual act of consuming necessary. Additionally, many of these options are suitable solutions for those who would prefer to keep smoke out of their lungs. Mr. Nice marijuana is also highly beneficial for those dealing with mental and mood disorders or conditions affecting the mind. For example, this strain has shown abilities of diminishing anxiety, depression, insomnia, PTSD, emotional/mental stress, restlessness and hyperactivity. Those consuming Mr. Nice for emotional or mental reasons should be wary not to over consume this marijuana strain or any cannabis type for that matter, because marijuana can increase anxiety and produce paranoia for those who are sensitive to it.

Mr. Nice is thankfully a milder marijuana strain so it isn’t as likely to generate uncomfortable circumstances, but starting out by consuming a smaller amount and then building from there might be a smart idea just to be on the safe side if you are concerned. Knowing your boundaries and limits and sticking to them can also be helpful.

Possible Negative Side Effects of Mr. Nice:

As with most cannabis strains, Mr. Nice also has the typical array of mild negative side effects that are tied with marijuana consumption. Dizziness, paranoia and increased anxiety are not so common with this strain type, but cottonmouth and dry/red eyes are reported relatively often. These two frequently experienced adverse effects can be easily managed with a little extra preparation and planning. By drinking plenty of hydrating fluids before, during and after your high, you can decrease the discomfort caused by cottonmouth, and staying hydrated also reduces the possibility of headaches or any grogginess the day after. By purchasing moisturizing eyedrops from your local drug store ahead of time and keeping them on hand or close by, you can relieve any discomforts caused by dry or red eyes. Overall, the pros of Mr. Nice cannabis greatly outweigh the cons, making it relatively risk-free for those who desire to try this marijuana strain.

Final Thoughts About Mr Nice:

If you are an individual searching for an alternative to conventional medications and are having trouble managing chronic pain, migraines, muscle spasms, cramping, back pain, depression, anxiety, PTSD, lack of appetite, insomnia, hyperactivity or most other types of body aches and pains, then the Mr. Nice marijuana strain could be a helpful and healing option to try. We hope you found this article to not only be entertaining, but also educational and informative. It is important to remember that the consumption of cannabis is the sole responsibility of the user and discretion should always be taken.

    Wonderful Mr. Nice

I smoke Mr. Nice often, but never knew the history. Always thought this is a weird name for some weed strain, and it stands true to the description mentioned above. An absolutely wonderful strain. Perfect in all respects.
