Easy Steps for Improving Daily Health

Health is important to a lot of people in our society. Now that December is upon us, you might be thinking a little bit about your New Years’ resolutions, and health goals will likely be high up the list for many of us.

A lot of people fail at their New Years’ resolutions though, simply because our goals are too big and daunting. Luckily, though, there are ways to make small steps toward your health goals. If one of your resolutions is to become generally healthier, then you can follow our seven steps for improving your daily health.

All of these are simple things that you can make a habit out of, and before you know it you’ll be a happier, healthier version of yourself.

#1. Improve Your Sleeping Habits

It is recommended that adults get between 7 and 9 hours of sleep each night. Unfortunately, many of us are failing to meet these requirements. Bad sleeping habits mean that we struggle to fall asleep at night and then have to get up early in the morning for work.

Some people simply practice bad sleep hygiene, meaning that they are eating large meals late at night, drinking absurd amounts of coffee, and sitting on their phone or laptop whilst in bed. All of these things can prevent you sleeping at night, but one of the largest contributing factors to a sleepless night is stress. Mood issues like depression, anxiety and stress can prevent you from sleeping at night, which is why it is important to look after your mental health at all times.

Here are some ways to improve your sleeping habits:

  • Change up your mattress or pillows if they are old – it is recommended to change your mattress every 7-10 years.
  • Ensure that your bedroom is a good temperature; the National Sleep Foundation recommends a temperature between 60 and 67˚F.
  • Keep your bedroom dark and quiet.
  • Avoid using screens in the lead-up to bedtime.
  • Make sure you exercise during the day to expend your energy, but don’t exercise too soon before going to bed.

#2. Eat Organic Superfoods

Dieting is perhaps the thing people struggle with the most. When there’s so much chocolate around to tempt you, eating healthily is hard! There are entire websites dedicated to telling you ways to eat healthily, but we will try and summarise this information the best we can.

First of all, it’s important to not start on a crash diet. While these fad trends might help you shed a few pounds quickly, it is absolutely impossible to keep the weight off. Plus, they aren’t healthy! Instead, you have to find a sustainable diet that you can keep up all the time.

Examples are the Paleo Diet and the Keto Diet. These diets don’t involve cutting down your calories and starving yourself. Instead, you eat organic, natural foods that are actually good for you. Eating lots of protein will ensure that you stay fuller for longer, for example, meaning that you will snack less. It is a good idea to search for organically grown foods, too, and avoid processed foods.

If you’re struggling for healthy recipes, there are plenty of recipe books and websites out there which cater to healthy, organic diets. There’s no excuse!

#3. Exercise More

Again, this is a goal that many of us like to achieve. And again, the hurdle people tend to fall at is sustainability.

Many people make the mistake of going running everyday as their New Years’ resolution, because they heard it helps to burn a lot of calories. However, they quickly get bored after a week because, as it turns out, they don’t actually enjoy running. There are plenty of other ways to burn fat, including HIIT training, rowing, or Zumba, and if the individual had started on something they would enjoy, they would actually stick to it.

Find an activity that gets you moving that you actually enjoy and commit to doing it two or three times per week. Set yourself small, manageable goals and then work to achieve them. If you find it hard to motivate yourself, work out with a friend!

You can also try buying something to motivate yourself. There are plenty of personal trainers who post fitness guides you can buy online – some people find that when they buy a product, they are more compelled to use it.

Working out is good for both your physical and mental health, so it’s a good idea to get started with exercise sooner rather than later.

#4. De-stress Yourself

Mental health is absolutely vital. There are so many things that can cause feelings of stress and anxiety in the modern age, and so it is important to find ways to cope.

Making time for yourself is one of the most key things in life. Whether it’s finding time to meet up with friends, relaxing in a bubble bath by yourself, or working out, you have to make time for your hobbies in your life.

Furthermore, you could try things such as mindfulness and meditation. These have become extremely popular as of late, as more and more people realize the benefits. If you’re worried about “doing it wrong”, you can download apps like Headspace to guide you throughout the meditation process. Before long, you might find yourself hooked!

#5. Use Organic, Healthy Beauty Products

What we put into our bodies is important, but the products we use on our bodies matter too. Too many beauty companies use harsh chemicals and concerning ingredients in their makeup and skincare products. This can be the year you change that!

There are plenty of brands that allow you to practice ethical shopping nowadays. Companies that sell organic, vegan beauty products are your best bet, as these manufacturers are really conscious about what they’re putting into their products. If you’re concerned about your favorite beauty brand, check out the Environmental Working Group’s (EWG) Skin Deep Cosmetic Database, which ranks thousands of products.

You’ll be surprised at just how much difference you make to your health when you switch to organic beauty products. You’ll not only clear up spots and imperfections, but you’ll feel better, too.

#6. Get Organized

This tip is related to our de-stressing advice. One of the best ways to de-stress is to get organized and ensure that your life is in balance. Invest in a planner or a blank notebook where you can start a bullet journal, and begin to write everything down.

Write down your meetings, work schedule, to-do list… everything. This includes your “me time” – make sure you pencil in some time for yourself. While it might feel silly to write down a date you’ve made with yourself, it’s actually super important. Once you have written it down in your schedule, you have no excuse but to do it! Without this gentle reminder, it’s all too easy to skip out on making time for yourself.

#7. Add Some CBD into Your Life

While the above tips are quite simple, it can be overwhelming to overhaul your life all at once and start being healthy. Luckily, you could make things a whole lot easier for yourself by investing in a bottle of CBD oil.

Cannabidiol might have the potential to help with all of these tips. When it comes to improving your sleeping habits, it is thought that CBD can make you more tired at night and regulate your natural sleep cycles. As long as you also keep healthy sleep habits, then CBD could really help you catch some Zs!

Moreover, CBD could help you with your exercise. CBD is becoming well-known as a way to mitigate pain by reducing inflammation, meaning it could reduce your recovery times. It might also give you an energy boost if you take it in the morning (especially if you make CBD-infused coffee!), which means it could be used as a great pre-workout.

In terms of stress, CBD is once again a viable option. Since CBD interacts with some receptors in the brain that control mood, it may be able to regulate negative feelings of stress, anxiety and depression, which is why more and more consumers are taking it for these reasons. If you are worried about these issues, cannabidiol could be a viable avenue to try out.

Then, there’s the issue of beauty products. CBD-infused lotions, balms and topicals are now available to purchase, which allow you to add in a healthy dose of CBD through your skin. While many of these topical applications are used to help treat localized pain, you can also by beauty products designed to moisturize and rejuvenate your skin. Most CBD beauty products are completely organic and designed to be kind and gentle to your skin, meaning that you can cut out chemicals and add in CBD all at once.

Finally, there is the question of superfoods and healthy eating. Did you know that hemp itself could be considered a superfood. Hemp  seed oil, made from cold-pressed hemp seeds, contains omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids, healthy amino acids, healthy fats, and a huge dose of proteins, nutrients and minerals. Plenty of CBD oils are made using hemp seed oil as the inert medium, meaning you can essentially purchase a CBD superfood. You could also incorporate CBD into your healthy cooking at home as an alternative way to take CBD. The possibilities are endless!
