Help! I’ve Got Marijuana Squatters

Solutions for those unwanted guests

Pesticides and bugs are quite annoying. They live on your precious marijuana leaves, rent free, they don’t pay any bills, but eat away at your plants, without any consideration.

As Full House Stephanie Tanner used to put it; “How Rude!”.

Just imagine, you’ve put in all that hard work to grow your plant. The trichomes on your plant look like coated sugar, that you would lick off and then one morning you wake up to see your plant half eaten.

Luckily for you, you don’t have to get out Winchester 1887 shotgun and start shooting the place down. Unlike nature, which naturally creates its own defense system, if you are home growing your weed, you will have to use some alternative solutions to keep your plants pest free:

1) Neem Oil

Canna Oil

Neem oil is a vegetable oil pressed from the fruits and seeds of the neem (Azadirachta indica), an evergreen tree which is endemic to the Indian subcontinent.

Neem oil contains pesticide and germicide properties making it a very effective bug and insect repellent. The good thing about this oil is that it is non-toxic to animals or people.

The idea here is to create a spray from the oil and spray your plants.
The best mixture include

1 litre warm water
8ml cold-pressed Neem Oil
5ml liquid soap.

Spray everywhere, especially under the leaves where the nasty critters lurk.

It is important to spray your plants every 3 days for at least 2 weeks for the mixture to work.

2) Hot Pepper Spray

Cannabis Bell peppers

For this homemade concoction, you’re going to need the following

  • 1 small bowl
  • 1 Onion
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1 spoon of dried hot peppers
  • 1.5 litres of water

How to make your spray:

Chop up all your ingredients and add them all into a bowl. Boil them for approximately 20 minutes. Strain out the ingredients, so you are left only with the hot liquid. Pour it into a spray bottle and label.

You can also add a few drops of pure dish soap to the liquid for stickiness.

3) Tabacco Spray

One thing good about Tobacco is that it contains Nicotine that kills bugs and insects pretty fast. Unlike us humans. This method is simple but will give your weed a tobacco taste and smell. This method is less recommended for those who like to smoke their weed without tobacco.

Simply place some tobacco into a bowl of hot water and let it sit overnight. In the morning strain the water and pour it into a spray bottle.

Spray the mixture on your plant.

By the way, you can also combine method #2 and #3 for ultimate protection.
