Dr. Roozbeh Badii

Dr. Roozbeh Badii is an internist in San Diego, California. He graduated from the George Washington University School of Medicine in 2002 and has been in practice for 17 years. He completed his internal medicine residency program at NYMC at the Westchester Medical center, which boasts the highest case-mix index of diseases in the United States.

The internal medicine residency program here continuously strives to anticipate the needs of the physicians of today and tomorrow. The focus of the educational process is on the acquisition of medical knowledge, emerging practice patterns, as well as the utilization of evidence and clinical skills. Dr. Badii attributes much of his success to his experience here.

Throughout his years of practicing medicine, Dr. Badii would often wonder if there was any way to relieve chronic severe pain without the use of opioids. Between 1999 to 2013, the U.S. saw a shocking increase in the misuse and overuse of both prescribed and illicit opioids, resulting in a four-fold increase in opiate overdose deaths.

Since 2012, Dr. Badii has been actively seeking out modes of practice that are effective for relieving various etiologies of chronic pain without resorting to the use of opioids, or at the very least, limiting the use of opioids. This quest is what led him to become a medical marijuana practitioner.

What are Dr. Badii’s Specialties?

Dr. Badii specializes in hospital medicine and internal medicine. General internal medicine physicians, also known as internists, are primary-care doctors who perform physical exams and treat a wide range of common illnesses in both men and women.

In the U.S, one of every four physicians is an internist, many of who are certified in one of 19 subspecialties, including infectious disease, cardiology, and medical oncology.

Of course, over recent years his main focus has become medical marijuana. Dr. Badii is now a medical marijuana practitioner. Further research, validity, and the effectiveness of marijuana in treating pain has become a lot more apparent. Dr. Badii is passionate about providing his patients with a solution that doesn’t involve opioids, or other traditional treatment options that are accompanied by various adverse effects.

While the treatment of chronic pain is Dr. Badii’s key focus, he also works with patients who suffer from various neurological and psychological disorders, like anxiety, PTSD, and insomnia. Medical marijuana is known to aid in the treatment of several such conditions.

Dr. Badii also has a strong interest in the field of addiction, whereby patients can be weaned off chronic opioids and treated with medical marijuana, which has far fewer side effects and complications than opioids.

The goal is to relieve pain without the risk of addiction.
